Way back in February, Square Enix stated that it was interested in bringing more Final Fantasy games to the PC platform and now, it is delivering on that as the publisher has announced that the Final Fantasy XIII ‘Lightning’ trilogy will be coming to Steam.
The first game in the series, Final Fantasy XIII, debuted back in 2009 and was originally going to be a PS3 exclusive. However, the game ended up coming to the Xbox 360 as well, spanning across 3 discs. At the time, Square Enix didn’t want to release a PC port due to piracy concerns but has since changed its mind.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Final Fantasy XIII Lightning Returns will come to Steam over the coming months. In the mean time, you can pre-order the first installment to the series for £9.89. The price will go up a bit once the game has released though, bringing it up to £10.99.
If you haven’t played the Final Fantasy XIII games then now might be your chance. However, it might be worth waiting to see if the port is any good first.

KitGuru Says: I only got half way through the first Final Fantasy XIII game on the 360, if the PC port is any good then I may revisit it and actually beat it this time around. What do you guys make of this announcement? Did you ever play Final Fantasy XIII on the Xbox 360 or PS3?
