The Xbox Showcase is coming up early next month and Infinity Ward is preparing early. In an open letter shared on social media this week, the studio confirmed that it is working on this year's Call of Duty, teasing ‘a new chapter' for the studio.
Infinity Ward has primarily been in charge of the Modern Warfare games but it has also experimented with slightly different takes on the COD formula with Call of Duty: Ghost and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. With that said, many expect this year's Call of Duty to be another Modern Warfare title and not something entirely new.
Here is the full statement that Infinity Ward shared this week:
“We build visceral, immersive combat experiences that hit different. As a new chapter begins for the studio, we're focused on what defines us: passion, precision, obsession and an unrelenting drive to make the best entertainment in the industry. Our next game is the result of that mindset”.
“Determined. Bold. Relentless. Built by a team pushing every detail, every system, every moment to its limit. On behalf of everyone at IW, we're proud of what we've been building and excited to finally start sharing it with you”.
The next Call of Duty game is expected to be revealed in June at the Xbox Games Showcase, alongside the likes of Fable, Halo: Campaign Evolved and Gears of War E-Day.
KitGuru Says: We've had back-to-back years of Black Ops so it is about time for something different in the Call of Duty space. However, I doubt casual fans will view ‘another Modern Warfare' as something all that revolutionary.
