Mirror’s Edge Catalyst release date pushed back a bit

DICE isn't just working on Star Wars Battlefront right now, the studio has also been working on a brand new Mirror's Edge game, which acts as a reboot for the franchise rather than a sequel to the original game. Initially, the game was due to come out at the end of February 2016 but EA has since revealed that the release date has now changed.

Mirror's Edge is a first person freerunning game with a heavy focus on parkour movement, rather than combat. Mirror's Edge Catalyst is expected to change-up the formula quite a bit, though the process is taking a bit longer than previously expected.

In a DICE blog post, the game's senior producer, Sara Jansson said: “Years ago, we set out an ambitious vision for Mirror's Edge Catalyst. Achieving that vision and delivering the best possible experience is equally inspiring and challenging. And it takes time. We're building the most immersive action-adventure game with fluid movement and combat in first person. Mirror's Edge Catalyst will be an all-new playground with a deeper and more engaging story – and we want to accomplish all these goals to the highest quality possible.”

“We've made the decision to bring Mirror's Edge to the world starting May 24, 2016. We will use these few extra months to make sure that when you step into the massive City of Glass and experience the rise of Faith, it's as entertaining, impressive, and memorable as it can be. Thank you again for your patience and support. Keep the Faith.”

The new Mirror's Edge game was officially announced at E3 this year and will once again star Faith as the main character.

KitGuru Says: DICE has quite the release line-up planned right now, with Battlefront due out in a few weeks time, Mirror's Edge mid next year and presumably we will start hearing about Battlefield 5 at some point too. Did any of you play much of the original Mirror's Edge? Are you looking forward to the sequel? I own the game, though I never got around to beating it properly.
