Nintendo delays Advanced Wars due to ‘recent world events’

At E3 last year, one of Nintendo's big surprises was a full remake of the Advanced Wars games, repackaging the first two games for the Nintendo Switch. Initially, the game was due to release in December 2021, but was later delayed to April 2022. Unfortunately due to “recent world events”, the game has been delayed again.

In a tweet this afternoon, Nintendo of America confirmed the delay, saying: “In light of recent world events, we have made the decision to delay Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, which was originally scheduled to release on Nintendo Switch on 08/04. Please stay tuned for updates on a new release date.”

The Advanced Wars games are tactical military games and with that in mind, when Nintendo says ‘recent world events', it is undoubtedly referring to the on-going invasion of Ukraine.

Many gaming and tech companies have cut off sales in Russia recently due to its invasion of Ukraine. Nintendo itself has suspended eShop sales in Russia. At this point in time, there is no word on when Advanced Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp will release on Nintendo Switch.
