Overwatch beta to return next month with huge update

Back in December, Blizzard took down the Overwatch closed beta to begin incorporating the vast amount of feedback it had received so far into the game. While the team was hopeful that it would be back in January, it looks like the beta won't be back until next month but there is good news, as the game will be returning with a new game mode along with some other big updates.

In a post on Battle Net made this week, Overwatch director, Jeff Kaplan said: “When we brought the Closed Beta offline last December, we did so with the intent to use the downtime to address player feedback, work on some core features (like progression!), and adjust the balance of the game. Our goal was to have all of that work completed before bringing the Closed Beta back online”.

“After looking through all of the feedback from last year, one of the things we noticed players consistently mentioning was their desire for more game modes in Overwatch, in addition to Point Capture and Payload. Without getting into specifics, we are working on a new game mode. And we’re very excited about it!”

The post then goes on to say that there will also be new maps when the beta returns. Right now, Overwatch is still in closed beta but when it returns in February Blizzard will begin inviting players into it once again.

KitGuru Says: Overwatch will be back next month with some significant additions to the game. It will be interesting to see what Blizzard's new game mode is as well. Are any of you in the Overwatch beta already? I'm still hoping to get an invite myself.
