Xbox achievements update confirms Rare 007 GoldenEye re-release

It has been just over a year since Rare’s 007 GoldenEye remaster resurfaced online with fresh leaks and even a playable build. Now a year later, it looks like GoldenEye will be re-releasing, as new evidence points to a remaster nearing the end of development.

Rare originally began working on this remaster back in 2006 for the Xbox 360’s Xbox Live Arcade, but the project was scrapped. Back in January, there was evidence to suggest that the project has been picked back up and is nearing completion, including new achievements. Now, these achievements have begun popping up on Xbox.com, and we can see that testers have been playing the game and unlocking new achievements that weren't in previous versions.

As shared by Wario64, achievements for 007 GoldenEye have been spotted on Microsoft's official servers. New achievements not seen in the January leak have also been spotted, and some Xbox Live accounts have unlocked these achievements, suggesting that playtesting is underway.

All of the achievements listed also have new art, giving us some very small screenshots of various levels in the game.

We've been anticipating a re-release of GoldenEye on Xbox for months now. All signs are pointing to Microsoft saving the game for a shadow-drop, so the game will likely be announced and released in quick succession. Microsoft has an Xbox and Bethesda showcase planned for the 12th of June, so we will likely get an official announcement then.

KitGuru Says: At this point, it will be more surprising if we don't see GoldenEye during Xbox's upcoming showcase. There has been strong evidence mounting around this re-release for months already, we're just waiting on Microsoft to officially confirm it.
