Microsoft Windows 8 is the hot topic of conversation right now. Many people are hoping it isn’t a repeat of Windows Vista, and more in line with Windows 7 (although I am probably one of the few journalists who liked vista).

Microsoft showcased a few aspects of the new “Windows 8″ interface:
• Launching of programs apps from a tile-based Start screen, which replaces the Windows Start menu with a customizable, scalable full-screen view of programsapps.
• Live tiles with notifications, showing up-to-date information from your programs apps.
• Switching between running programs apps.
• Touch-optimized browsing, with all the power of hardware-accelerated Internet Explorer 10.
• Capability to snap and resize a program an app to the side of the screen.
• Web-connected and Web-powered programs apps built using HTML5 and JavaScript.
