Microsoft launches surprisingly affordable Surface Laptop Go 2

The Microsoft Go series of laptops have been well received so far. They might not reach pinnacle levels of performance in their respective form factors, but they usually offer a good experience for the price. With the Surface Laptop Go 2, Microsoft will look to continue that trend.

With the new Surface Laptop Go 2, Microsoft promises to offer all the good things of the first model, adding a better CPU and webcam, more battery life and improved thermals. Based on the minimalist design of its predecessor, the laptop will be available in platinum, blue, sandstone, and sage.

The new laptop will be available in four configurations (RAM/ROM): 4GB/128GB, 8GB/128GB, 8GB/256GB and 16GB/256GB. All will pack a 4C/8T Intel Core i5-1135G7 and feature a 12.4-inch screen with 1536×1024 resolution (3:2 aspect ratio). Besides the new chip, Microsoft also claims the battery life was extended by 30 minutes, from 13 to 13.5 hours, and the webcam was replaced by a better one, although the resolution (720p) remains the same.

At 1.1kg, the laptop is light enough to travel with wherever your destination is. The Surface Laptop Go 2 is now available for sale starting at £529/€679/$599 for the 4GB/128GB model. Microsoft will start shipping its latest laptops on June 7th.

KitGuru says: With the base model featuring only 4GB of memory, it might be worth paying the extra and going for the 8GB model.
