Capcom classic ‘Onimusha’ returns with new game in 2026

Capcom released remasters for the Onimusha games years ago, but we've heard very little on the future of the series since. That changed last night, with a brand new game in the series now announced.

Capcom's classic Onimusha series returns in 2026 with a new entry, Onimusha: Way of the Sword. The game was officially revealed with a new trailer at The Game Awards 2024:

The surprising announcement also came with a 2026 release window for the game on consoles and PC. We know it will use Capcom's in-house RE Engine, which powers all of the publisher's major titles at this point.

Unfortunately, outside of that, we know very little about the game's story and we have yet to see any gameplay. Typically, Capcom likes to launch games in Q1, as has been the case for Monster Hunter, Dragon's Dogma and others. With that in mind, I expect we'll hear a lot more about this game in 2025.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
