Halo Infinite to get surprise 3rd-person mode next month

With Halo Infinite failing to become the decade-long platform that Microsoft and 343 Industries were hoping it would evolve into, there have been many leaks and rumours discussing the team’s plan for the franchise’s future. In amongst talk of a switch to Unreal Engine 5 as well as a remake of Halo: Combat Evolved, 343i have announced a surprise 3rd-person mode coming to Infinite next month.

In amongst the most recent Halo World Championships, 343 Industries teased a few future features coming to Halo Infinite.

By far the most surprising was the announcement that the game is set to get a 3rd-person mode next month, saying “Experience a new way to play! 3rd Person Mode is coming to Halo Infinite this November.”

Details on this new mode are light right now, however the team did release a brief video showing snippets of gameplay – seemingly confirming that you will be able to switch perspectives at will.

Given the face that Halo Infinite is unlikely to see long-term success, this recent announcement is probably a part of 343i’s future plans for whatever is set to come next after Infinite.

It’ll be interesting to see exactly how this upcoming feature is implemented – and whether it will be limited to specific modes. We won’t have to wait long to find out.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
