GTA San Andreas VR has been put “on hold indefinitely”

Back in 2021 during what was previously known as the Facebook Connect conference, the company now known as Meta announced that they would be bringing the classic Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas to VR via the Quest 2. Following years of little to no news, Meta has unfortunately announced that the game has now been put “on hold indefinitely.”

As reported by IGN, a spokesperson for Meta confirmed to the publication that the long-awaited VR release of San Andreas has been put “on hold indefinitely,” with further comments by the official Meta Quest VR YouTube account reaffirming this, stating:

“GTA: San Andreas is on hold indefinitely while we both focus on other projects. We look forward to working with our friends at Rockstar in the future.”

A VR version of GTA San Andreas would certainly have been one of the biggest ports brought to the platform owing to the sheer size of the GTA user base.

It’s unfortunate that it will likely never see the light of day.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
