Housemarque teases impending announcement

Housemarque is one of the more out-there first-party PlayStation studios, with the Finnish developers known best for their work on 2021’s excellent 3rd person rogue-lite shooter Returnal. Since the title’s last major update in 2023 the team have been relatively silent…until now.

Teasing fans on Twitter, the team at Housemarque shared an image of someone staring at the ‘camera’ through shattered glass, stating that more details will be shared later today.

Though highly cryptic, the closeup of the character’s face does appear to be similar to Selene’s from the aforementioned Returnal – suggesting that we might be getting new content of some kind.

Since its release back in 2021, Returnal received a whole host of major free updates, including adding a new Tower of Sisyphus mode as well as full-on multiplayer co-op.

Considering how long it’s been since the last major update, we could be in for something pretty big. Here’s to hoping.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
