Acer’s latest 1440p ultrawide monitor boosts refresh rates up to 180Hz

Acer has released plenty of QHD ultrawide monitors over the years but the latest offers a great mix of gaming features and affordability. The new XZ342CU S3 offers 1440p ultrawide gaming at up to 180Hz with an affordable price tag.

The Acer XZ342CU S3 is part of the Nitro XZ2 lineup and has a 34-inch VA panel with a 1500R curvature, 1ms response time (VRB), and a 3440×1440 resolution. The 10-bit (8-bit+FRC) screen covers 90% of the DCI-P3 colour space and has a static contrast ratio of 4000:1 and a brightness of 400 nits, enough for it to earn the VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification.

The monitor's also got a 180Hz refresh rate and is AMD FreeSync Premium Pro-certified. Two 2W speakers, two HDMI 2.0 connections, two DisplayPort 1.4 inputs, and a headphone jack are included with the monitor.

The included stand can rotate (-360° to 360°), tilt (-5° to 15°), and is height adjustable up to 130mm. Additionally, you can also mount the monitor on a VESA-compatible stand or arm (75 x 75 mm). The Acer XZ342CU S has been released for $330.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
