Intel Core i9-13980HX claims the top spot on PassMark laptop CPU rankings

Whether we're talking about single-core or multi-core performance on a laptop platform, it seems we have a new reigning champion. The first Core i9-13980HX entries have started to be submitted into PassMark's database, and in both rankings, the upcoming Intel flagship mobile CPU is the new leader.

As noted by @9550pro, the Intel Core i9-13980HX currently sits with an average multi-core score of 52,606 marks, 12% faster than the Ryzen 9 7845HX and 2% faster than the Core i9-13900HX. In the single-core ranking, the scenario is similar, with core i9-13980HX being 3% faster than the other Raptor Lake Core-i9 chip and 12% faster than the fastest AMD CPU in the table.

The new Apple M2 Pro and Max chips have been beaten by the Intel Core i9-13980HX, with the new leader being between 7% and 9% faster than Apple's top-of-the-line silicon.

The Intel Core i9-13980HX is an Intel 7-based, 24-core chip with 8x P-cores that can boost up to 5.6GHz and an additional 16x E-cores that go up to 4.0GHz. That's a total of 32x threads and 36MB of Intel Smart Cache in a 55W TDP design with a maximum power consumption of 157W. Laptops powered by this CPU are now available for sale in various regions.

KitGuru says: Currently, Intel chips sit comfortably on top of both charts, but once the first entries of the 16-core Ryzen 9 7945HX enter PassMark's database, we may see a new chart-topper mobile CPU.
