Resident Evil 4 Remake achieves ‘biggest PC launch’ in Resident Evil history

Resident Evil 4 Remake launched last Friday and so far, it looks like the game has been a huge success. The Steam numbers alone are impressive, with the game peaking at well over 160,000 concurrent players over the launch weekend, making it the biggest Resident Evil launch in the series' history.

Looking at the data shared by SteamDB, the Resident Evil 4 remake is off to a good start. After peaking at just over 140K concurrent players on Steam after the first 24 hours, the game continued to climb, ending up with a lifetime peak of over 164K concurrent players.

This is a significant gain over previous Resident Evil games on Steam. For comparison, Resident Evil Village peaked at 106,631 concurrent players, while Resident Evil 2 Remake peaked at just under 75K players, making RE4 Remake twice as popular at launch. This also goes to show how big the Resident Evil franchise is as a whole, as EA's equally hyped Dead Space Remake launched with a peak concurrent player count of just over 30K players.

Resident Evil 4 is a survival horror game developed by Capcom. Like the original, critics are very pleased with the game, which currently sits at an OpenCritic score of 92 (97% recommend).

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
