New details leak regarding PS5 with detachable disc drive

Back in September we reported that Sony was developing a new SKU of the PlayStation 5 which would see the console include a detachable disc drive. Little was known at the time, however we now have more information, including the fact that the disc drive will not be backwards compatible with previous PS5 consoles.

While we have yet to hear any official word on this alleged hybrid PlayStation, industry insider Tom Henderson – who leaked its existence in the first place – offered a few updates on the unannounced console, saying:

“Doesn't seem like there are any major hardware changes from the original console. Disc Drive likely won't be compatible with the current digital version.”

When asked to clarify what he meant with the latter statement, Henderson responded, “It's a new console entirely. Basically gen 2 on the PS5.”

By now we have heard quite a bit about this PS5 with a detachable disc drive, however we have yet to see anything from it. It will be highly interesting to see how this new PS5 functions and what it looks like – even if the specs are the same.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
