Intel is killing off its Pentium and Celeron branding

For decades now, Intel has been releasing Pentium and Celeron series processors to serve the mainstream PC market. Now, Intel is officially doing away with Celeron and Pentium, replacing both with a new line-up of chips simply named ‘Intel Processor'. 

Today, Intel is announcing the Intel Processor, a replacement for Pentium and Celeron series chips. Just as its predecessors did, the Intel Processor will primarily ship in entry-level PCs and laptops across the world.

The Intel Processor will begin replacing Pentium and Celeron products in the notebook/laptop space in early 2023. Intel says this move is in line with its commitment to “raising the PC standard across all price points”.

The Intel Processor family will act as another pillar alongside Intel's other main chip families – Intel vPro, Intel Evo and Intel Core.
