Platinum’s failed live-service title ‘Babylon’s Fall’ is being given away for free at stores

There's no denying that Babylon's Fall was a flop. PlatinumGames and Square Enix's attempt to crack the live service market did not meet expectations and just a few months after launch, the game's shutdown has been announced. With the end nearing for Babylon's Fall, some retail stores have begun giving away the game for free. 

Cheap Ass Gamer (via VGC) found that GameStop stores in the US were giving out copies of the game to customers coming in and asking about it. A user quickly replied to the post to confirm the US retailer actually gave out a free copy after he asked for it.

Other users, however, were not so lucky. Some tried to get a free copy of Platinum's game, but the store staff said they had no remaining stock. One user even pointed out that he contacted ten stores, all claiming they had destroyed the copies. Besides GameStop, we haven't yet heard reports of other retailers doing the same thing.

Square Enix and Platinum announced the game will officially end service in February 2023. Once the servers are taken down, the game will be unplayable.
