Infinity Ward announces Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

We've known for a long time now that Infinity Ward will be releasing a new Call of Duty this year, and that it will be a sequel to 2019's Modern Warfare reboot. Now this week, following Activision Blizzard's earnings call, Modern Warfare 2 (2022) has been officially announced.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be releasing later this year, likely in November. The new Modern Warfare 2 logo has also been revealed on Twitter:

Infinity Ward rebooted the Modern Warfare series back in 2019, although some characters returned. This new Modern Warfare 2 is a sequel to that game and is separate from the original Modern Warfare 2, which released all the way back in 2009.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will have the task of lifting the franchise back up, as Call of Duty has lost 50 million players in the wake of Vanguard's launch. The new game should bring along a refresh for Warzone, ahead of a completely rebooted Warzone 2 in 2023.

KitGuru Says: Modern Warfare (2019) was the last Call of Duty I really enjoyed, so I'm looking forward to this. Hopefully it will be a big step up from Vanguard and the rushed Black Ops title we got in 2020.
