BOE unveils world’s first Full HD 500Hz monitor and an 8K/120Hz display

BOE, one of the world's largest display manufacturers, announced two new display panels during BOE Innovation Exchange. Besides the new 27-inch Full HD panel with +500Hz refresh rate, the Chinese manufacturer also introduced an 8K panel with 120Hz refresh rate.

According to BOE (via Wccftech), the advancements made in oxide semiconductor display technology and the new methods used to prevent copper oxidation, diffusion, drilling, and engraving allowed the manufacturer to create these panels.

The 27-inch panel with a +500Hz refresh rate and 1080p resolution will also come with an 8-lane eDP connection, 1ms response time, and true 8-bit colour depth. As for the 8K panel, BOE didn't share many specifications, but we do know that the panel is a whopping 110-inches in size and offers 8K resolution at 120Hz.

It's unclear when we'll see the first products using the new BOE panels and how much they will cost, but considering they're a cut above the competition, expect to pay a premium for them.

KitGuru says: Do you think people will notice the difference between the current 360Hz panels and the future +500Hz displays? Would you prefer a 4K panel with a 240Hz refresh rate or the new BOE 8K panel with 120Hz?
