Gearbox is working on Tales from the Borderlands 2

Telltale Games has been revived in recent years, leading to the return of games like The Wolf Among Us 2 and the final season of The Walking Dead. Now, one of the best Telltale games, Tales from the Borderlands, will officially be getting a sequel too.

Gearbox head, Randy Pitchford, announced Tales from the Borderlands 2 at PAX East over the weekend. The game has apparently been in the works for years already, and development was brought in-house after Telltale Games initially shut down due to bankruptcy. The sequel will include a new cast of characters and an all-new story.

Tales from the Borderlands 2 will be getting a proper unveiling over the Summer, with plans to release later this year. This will be the second Borderlands spin-off to come out in 2022, following on from Tiny Tina's Wonderlands.

Telltale Games found huge success with its point and click adventure formula for story telling, but the company spent too much money on big-name licenses and operations, ultimately leading to bankruptcy. Following the company's closure, a company known as LCG Entertainment acquired the assets and formed a new studio in 2019. Since then, Telltale has remained lean and hasn't taken on too many projects at once, primarily focusing on The Wolf Among Us 2, which will release next year.

Other companies, like Skybound Entertainment, finished up work on Telltale's The Walking Dead, and it is now confirmed that Gearbox also brought Tales from the Borderlands in-house for future games.

KitGuru Says: Tales from the Borderlands was perhaps the best Telltale game, so it will be interesting to see what Gearbox does with the sequel all these years later. Did any of you play the original game? Will you be returning for the sequel?

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
