EA releases 20 minutes of new Dead Space remake footage

Last year, EA surprised us all with the announcement of Dead Space Remake. While the game was initially targeting a late 2022 release, the game has since been pushed to ‘early 2023'. In the meantime, we have 20 minutes of new gameplay footage to take a look at. 

The original Dead Space and its two sequels were developed by Visceral Games. The remake is focusing on Dead Space 1 and is being developed by EA Motive, who previously impressed with Star Wars Squadrons. The remake is being built with Frostbite Engine, bringing the game's graphical fidelity to new heights, while also modernising gameplay and making quality of live improvements. There has also been some talk of restoring cut content to the game, but don't expect anything major.

After confirming the early 2023 release window for Dead Space, EA uploaded a four-part video series showcasing new game footage. One video is an atmospheric walkthrough, giving us a look at the rebuilt Ishimura space station. The other videos focus primarily on audio improvements, with one showcasing the ‘A.L.I.V.E.' system, which enables different voiced lines to play depending on Isaac's health and condition. The second video focuses on audio occlusion, while the third video focuses on new weapon sounds.

Dead Space Remake will be releasing next year for PC and the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 consoles. No Xbox One or PS4 release is planned.
