Nintendo Switch will soon support AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution

Due to their compact size, portable consoles tend to have weaker hardware, so developers have to find other methods to run games with better visuals at stable frame rates. One way is using upscaling technologies like AMD FSR, which could soon be implemented in a number of Nintendo Switch games.

Nintendo Switch Sports, a sequel to Wii Sports, is currently undergoing playtesting ahead of release and as a result, there have been some leaks. Twitter user, @NWPlayer123, got their hands on documentation that comes with the game. In the user agreement, we can see that Nintendo has permission from AMD to use FidelityFX Super Resolution 1.0 (FSR), making this the first Switch game to support the technology.

The Nintendo Switch uses an Nvidia Tegra chip, but as an open-source technology, FSR can be adapted to work. It is possible that eventually Nintendo also works on getting support for Nvidia's own Image Sharpening technology.

We hope to see AMD FSR in action once Nintendo Switch Sports releases on April 29th.

KitGuru says: Do you think we will see other Switch games using AMD FSR? Which games would you like to see using AMD's upscaling technology?

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
