Asus enters the SSD market with the ROG Strix SQ7 M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD

ASUS is expanding its range of DIY PC hardware this year with the first ROG Strix M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD.

Asus announced the SSD on its Taiwan Facebook page, showing the image you see below and teasing the upcoming hardware. No other details were shared, but we can see that the ROG Strix SQ7 will come in the standard M.2 2280 form factor, support PCIe 4.0 to unlock even faster speeds and it will have at least up to 1TB capacity.

For now, it seems the Asus ROG Strix SQ7 model comes in a 1TB model, but we wouldn't be surprised if the company launches other options. Moreover, the SDD will support PCIe 4.0, so expect maximum speeds ranging between 3,500MB/s and 7,000MB/s. Lastly, the marketing material suggests the SSD has a simple heat spreader on top of the modules to handle the cooling, so there's a good chance you can also mount it on PS5 consoles.

Asus has scheduled an event for the 17th of May, where we could learn more about the upcoming SSD. Moreover, Computex is also coming soon, so there's also a chance the company will share more details very soon.

KitGuru says: With Asus coming to the SSD market, you will soon be able to build almost an entire PC using just ASUS hardware, we just need an ROG Edition processor to complete the line-up.
