Report claims Cyberpunk 2077: Samurai Edition will be a soft relaunch for the game

It has been a few months since CD Projekt Red last gave us development update on Cyberpunk 2077, but according to recent leaks and rumours, the game will be getting a soft relaunch within the next few months. Cyberpunk 2077 will be heading to Xbox Series X/S and PS5 consoles sometime in Q1, and Patch 1.5 will roll out for all platforms, containing a ton of improvements and changes to the game.

According to a new alleged leak, Patch 1.5 will be treated as a soft relaunch for Cyberpunk 2077, similar to CD Projekt Red's previous ‘Enhanced' editions of The Witcher games. The new version of the game will apparently be known as Cyberpunk 2077: Samurai Edition, which is set to be revealed in February during a live stream.

This new edition of Cyberpunk 2077 will include the new patch, which adds more activities around the city, a full transmog system and a rebalanced loot system for better character customisation, improved AI for NPCs, updated UI elements and new free DLCs, including new gigs, a New Game+ mode, new weapons and finally, customisation options for V's Night City apartment.

Assuming all goes well with Patch 1.5 and the relaunch, CD Projekt Red will then be going full steam ahead with Cyberpunk 2077's first expansion, which will reportedly be based in Pacifica, one of the main areas around Night City, patrolled by two rival gangs. CDPR is also said to be planning a second expansion too.

Unfortunately, the source for this leak is anonymous and nobody reputable has backed it up at this stage. However, some of the details do line up with previous, more reputable reports. If this is all true, we'll find out within the next couple of months, as Cyberpunk 2077 is due to hit next-gen consoles and resume patches and updates before the end of March.

KitGuru Says: What do you all make of this rumour? While I'm cautious about some of the information, I do believe that CD Projekt Red is cooking up something along these lines, similar to its former Enhanced Edition releases for The Witcher and The Witcher 2, which contained a ton of fixes and QoL changes.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
