Acer chairman thinks PC prices may peak by mid‑2027

Acer chairman Jason Chen has outlined his expectations for PC pricing over the next year, saying average selling prices may reach their peak around mid‑2027 before easing in the second half of the year.

Quoted by Taiwanese outlet Money UDN (via Videocardz), Chen said that while DDR4 and DDR5 memory supply has largely stabilised and CPU availability has improved outside some lower‑end models, memory and SSD prices remain elevated. With component costs still at high levels, he expects PC prices to continue rising in Q4 2026, with average increases in the region of 5–20% depending on configuration.

Chen added that memory shortages are unlikely to persist long‑term, noting that new semiconductor capacity continues to come online. As supply increases, he expects component pricing pressure to ease, though these price changes would typically take months to filter through the manufacturing and retail channels.

Based on current trends, Chen believes PC average selling prices will reach their highest point around mid‑2027, with a potential decline in the second half of the year due to increased supply levels.
