Intel ‘Alder Lake-S’ 12th Gen Core processors reportedly launching in November

We've known for a while now that Intel's upcoming Alder Lake-S processors are due out in late 2021. Now, new reports indicate a more specific launch window, claiming that Intel's 12th Gen Core processors will be arriving in November, roughly eight months after Rocket Lake-S.

The rumour coming from Wccftech also claims this will be the first platform with PCIe 5.0 and DDR5 support. In the last few weeks, Intel has been discussing the release of the Alder Lake-S platform with partners. While some motherboards may be limited to DDR4 memory instead of DDR5, PCIe 5.0 support is said to be in place across all upcoming motherboards.

For those who may not know, it's said that only the Z690 motherboards will support DDR5, leaving DDR4 memory for the ‘H' and ‘B' series motherboards.

Intel Alder Lake will be the company's first venture into the desktop segment using 10nm-based processors and a hybrid architecture featuring small and big cores. The CPU die will differ from past generations, featuring a more rectangular shape. The new socket will be the LGA 1700 and should last for a few generations, but this may still change before release.

KitGuru says: Intel may still delay the release of Alder Lake-S, but with so many rumours and claims pointing to a release later this year, it seems that Rocket Lake-S will be Intel's shortest-lived desktop platform.
