Activision Blizzard accused of shredding evidence following DFEH lawsuit

As we know, Activision Blizzard is currently being sued by the State of California over its workplace practices. Today, the case against the company was updated, accusing it of shredding HR documents related to staff complaints and previous internal workplace investigations.

In the initial lawsuit, former Activision Blizzard employees talked about several instances of harassment and others have come forward to share additional stories involving hidden cameras in bathrooms, a BlizzCon hotel room known as ‘The Cosby Suite', and instances of HR failing to intervene or properly address workplace issues.

Apparently, in the wake of the lawsuit, Activision Blizzard's HR department began shredding documents related to complaints. These documents should have been kept for the on-going legal investigation.

Activision Blizzard has of course denied this, saying that throughout its engagement with California's DFEH agency, it has “complied with every proper request in support of its review”.

In a statement to Eurogamer, the publisher also pointed out that it has been implementing changes in the wake of the lawsuit, including “high-level personnel changes, revamped hiring and recruiting practises, greater transparency on pay equity” and “restructured divisions to support greater accountability”.
