Microsoft preparing big UI changes for Windows 10 in 2021

It looks like Microsoft is preparing a big Windows 10 UI update this year. Recent job listings from Microsoft have begun seeking developers for a “sweeping rejuvenation of Windows”.

Windows 10 has had some minor UI updates since launch, but this appears to be a much bigger attempt at revitalising the OS. Here is the full description for the job being advertised (via The Verge): “On this team, you’ll work with our key platform, Surface, and OEM partners to orchestrate and deliver a sweeping visual rejuvenation of Windows experiences to signal to our customers that Windows is BACK and ensure that Windows is considered the best user OS experience for customers”.

Windows Central has reported on some rumours regarding these upcoming changes. Internally, this project is apparently codenamed Sun Valley and will include overhauls for the Start menu, File Explorer and Windows 10's built-in apps.

We can expect to see this begin to come to fruition later in 2021, potentially as part of the 2H 2021 feature update.

KitGuru Says: Windows 10 was enough of an improvement over Windows 8 to satisfy most at launch but there's nothing wrong with a fresh coat of paint once in a while. What would you like to see change in the Windows 10 UI?
