Intel Core i5-11600K surfaces on Geekbench 5 database

Until now, the only Rocket Lake-S processors spotted on benchmark databases have been Core i7 and i9 processors, but that has changed this week with the first Core i5 entry appearing on Geekbench 5. The new entry details the Intel Core i5-11600K, giving us some early performance numbers to compare against the competition.

The Geekbench 5 entry of the Intel Core i5-11600K was first shared by @leakbench. This processor has 6 cores and 12 threads with a base clock of 3.9GHz, which boosts up to 4.9GHz. The remaining specifications of the system included a Gigabyte Z490M motherboard and 16GB of DDR4 memory clocked at 2133MHz.

With a single-core score of 1565 points, the Core i5-11600K is 19% faster than its predecessor (i5-10600K). Interestingly though, multi-core performance is 13% lower compared to the 10th Gen Core i5. We expect the retail version of the 11600K to have improvements, particularly when it comes to multi-core performance.

If we look at these numbers versus the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, AMD's equivelant wins out in both single-core and multi-core tests by 3% and 30% respectively. Of course, this is just an early comparison – retail SKU benchmarks may show different results.

Intel is expected to launch its 11th Gen Core series desktop processors on the 15th of March.

KitGuru says: Do you think it's worth upgrading from a 10th Gen Core i5-10600K to the Core i5-11600K? Would you choose the Intel Core i5-11600K over the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X?
