Elite Dangerous: Odyssey trailer shows off new combat and exploration mechanics

This week as part of The Game Awards festivities, Frontier Developments gave us a brand new look at the next expansion for Elite Dangerous. The Odyssey expansion is launching in early 2021, promising one of the biggest gameplay and exploration updates so far.

Elite Dangerous: Odyssey is still on track to release early next year, before then though, there will be beta and alpha playtest phases for those who pre-order the expansion. Ahead of that though, here is a look at Odyssey in action:

Elite Dangerous: Odyssey will allow Commanders to explore planets on foot for the very first time, taking on new missions and engaging in intense tactical combat. You'll get specialised suits and gear options, meet other commanders in ‘social hubs' and form alliances. This all merges the game's traditional cockpit experience with first-person shooter elements.

Of course, there will also be ground vehicles and air-to-ground fights too, so expect plenty of action. We should get a more specific release date for Odyssey in the new year.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
