Oculus Connect 7 will be an all-digital event

Facebook has already had to make changes to one of its annual conferences due to COVID-19 and now, the company's October-bound Oculus Connect is also going to be impacted. Traditionally, Oculus Connect is an in-person event, consisting of a main press conference for hardware and game announcements, and a show floor component where VR devs and press can gather to get hands-on with new Oculus gear and take part in demos.

Oculus Connect 7 this year will be going ahead, but it will be shifting to a digital format this time around due to the health risks involved with COVID-19.

“This was a tough decision to make, but we need to prioritize the health and safety of our developer partners, employees, and everyone involved in OC7. Oculus Connect gives us an unprecedented opportunity to connect with our global developer community. OC7 will be no exception, and we look forward to sharing more details about the digital event in the coming months.”

We'll have to wait a little while longer for dates, times and a schedule for specific panels/talks.

KitGuru Says: With Half-Life: Alyx now out, all eyes will be on other potentially huge Triple A VR games this year. Hopefully those games still get a chance in the spotlight despite recent event cancellations and changes.
