PlayStation confirms Returnal follow-up Saros will be at The Game Awards

Housemarque’s Returnal is still one of the PlayStation 5’s best first-party exclusives, with the 2021 title offering a compelling mix of 3rd-person shooting, arcadey movement and combat wrapped up in a rogue-like bow. Since its release, the game has garnered a ton of praise with Sony even going on to acquire Housemarque. Now officially under the PlayStation banner, Housemarque’s latest project – Saros – has been confirmed to be shown off at the 2025 Game Awards.

Making the announcement via Twitter, the official PlayStation page confirmed that Saros will be shown off at the upcoming Game Awards, writing: “Come back stronger. Get a new look at Saros @thegameawards this Thursday, Dec 11.”

Saros Housemarque

For the uninitiated, Saros was first unveiled earlier this year during February’s State of Play alongside a 2026 release year. Though a new IP, the follow-up to Returnal has clearly been influenced by it, with what little was shown off so far indicating that it will build on Returnal’s mechanics while offering a greater amount of meta-progression.

All that said, we have yet to see much from the game, with the initial announcement trailer primarily being vibes-focused. As such, it will be highly exciting to get a proper taste of exactly how Saros looks and plays in just a few days' time.
