Ex AMD CEO Rory Read joins Dell as COO

Rory Read, a former chief executive office of Advanced Micro Devices, on Monday joined Dell as the chief operating officer. Among other things, Mr. Read will be responsible for sales of commercial systems at Dell.

Rory Read, who spent nearly three decades at IBM and Lenovo, will become chief operating officer and president of worldwide commercial sales, who will have responsibility for Dell’s global go-to-market initiatives, omni-channel sales planning and enablement.

Mr. Read will lead Dell’s cross-business unit and country-level operational planning to further develop Dell’s sales and go-to-market organizations, enhancing the company’s direct selling capabilities and accelerating its momentum in the channel.
