LG will be showing off its new HDR monitors at CES

CES is coming up in just a few weeks time and while KitGuru will be there covering the event, it looks like LG wants to get ahead of all the other companies set to attend by announcing its new 4K HDR monitors ahead of time. LG's new monitor comes with an IPS panel, support for HDR10 and Ultra-HD resolution, making it a compelling offering.

These new monitors will be on display at CES where more details will be released but for now, we can expect to see one 32-inch 4K monitor, as well as a 21:9 ultra-wide with Chromecast built directly into it.

The LG 32UD99 supports the HDR10 standard, the same that you will find on many high-end 4K TVs these days, allowing this monitor to deliver better brightness levels and a wider colour gamut. It also has an IPS panel which displays over 95 percent of the DCI-P3 colour space and True Colour Pro technology to deliver what LG claims to be the highest colour reproduction in the monitor industry.

The 34-inch ultra-wide monitor is known as the 34UM79M and is the world's first Chromecast enabled monitor, essentially turning it into a smart TV capable of streaming music, movies and games directly to the monitor. Unfortunately, we don't have further details on resolution, panel technology or refresh rates for this particular monitor but there will be a second gaming-oriented ultra-wide on display- the 34UC99, which comes with FreeSync and a 1ms response time. We will learn other specifics at the event itself.
