Valve Index stock quickly sells out, new orders will ship in up to 10 weeks

Just as promised, yesterday the Valve Index returned to the Steam Store with new stock available, although it didn't take long for immediate availability to sell out. Around ten minutes after Valve began accepting orders again, the estimated shipping date began to slide.

If you were fortunate enough to get an order in quickly enough, then you should get your headset in time for Half-Life: Alyx, which comes out on March 23rd. However, new orders for the full kit are currently listed as shipping in 8 to 10 weeks. The Index headset and controllers bundle is listed as shipping after 8 weeks and finally, the standalone Index headset is also listed as shipping in 8 to 10 weeks.

The Valve Index base stations on their own are listed as out of stock. Meanwhile, new orders for just the Index controllers will be backdated by 8 weeks or more.

Valve is still accepting orders for all of its VR gear but everything is on a ‘first come, first serve' basis. With that in mind, estimated shipping dates could slide further unless additional manufacturing capacity opens up, in which case, Valve may be able to get through batches a bit quicker.

KitGuru Says: Did any of you place an order for a Valve Index last night? Were you able to get an early shipping date or is yours a couple of months away?
