Leaker claims Nintendo is sitting on a Twilight Princess remaster

Over the course of the Switch’s lifespan we have seen Nintendo bring a whole host of older titles to the platform through various re-releases, remasters and remakes. One of the most requested titles by fans has been a Switch release of the Wii’s Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. According to one insider, such a remaster already exists – but is being held back by Nintendo for some reason.

Known SEGA leaker ‘Midori’ recently spoke on one of the most requested Switch games which has yet to be officially announced, taking to Twitter to say “There is a project at Nintendo with the codename Edward. This might be related to the rumours of a new Zelda series title.”

One follower responded simply by saying “The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Remastered” to which Midori replied “I do not know why Nintendo is not releasing it yet” – indicating that the much-desired remaster is ready and waiting to be released at Nintendo’s whim.

Considering the fact that Twilight Princess was already remastered for the Wii U, it makes little sense as to why a Switch port has taken so long. Perhaps Nintendo is simply waiting for what they deem to be the perfect time to re-re-release this much loved classic.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Nintendo holding games back in this way? When do you think they’ll release the remaster? How different do you expect it to be from the Wii U release? Let us know down below.
