Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 officially releasing in October

During the most recent PlayStation Showcase, by far the biggest announcement was that of Spider-Man 2, with the team at Insomniac Games giving us over 10 minutes of exciting and new gameplay. One thing missing from the trailer however was a concrete release date. Now, during Summer Game Fest, Spider-Man 2’s box art, release date and more have been shared.

Announced on stage during the Summer Game Fest Kick Off stream (and expounded upon via the PlayStation Blog), the team at Insomniac Games officially announced the much anticipated release date for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, saying “Everyone at Insomniac Games is thrilled to announce that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will launch on Friday, October 20th, 2023, only on PlayStation 5. After the amazing fan reception for Marvel’s Spider-Man in 2018 and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales in 2020, the team has worked tirelessly over the past few years to make this third installment in the franchise the sequel you have been waiting for.”

Alongside the release date, Insomniac showed off the sequel’s box art as well as the 3 different editions of the game. There is of course the Standard Edition (£69.99); a Digital Deluxe Edition (£79.99) which includes 10 unique suits – 5 for Peter, 5 for Miles – designed by guest artists; additional Photo Mode frames and stickers; and 2 additional skill points.

Finally, there will be a Collectors Edition for a whopping £219.99 which will include a voucher for the Digital Deluxe Edition; a Steelbook case, and “an extraordinary, high-quality 19-inch statue featuring our Spider-Men battling fan-favorite Venom”. All those who pre-order the game – no matter the edition – will receive an early unlock Arachknight Suit for Peter with 3 additional colour variants, an early unlock Shadow Spider Suit for Miles with 3 additional colour variants, an early unlock Web Grabber gadget, and 3 skill points.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the release date? Will you be picking up Spider-Man 2 or Alan Wake 2? Which of the new suits do you like the look of the most? Let us know down below.
