Destiny 2 PC beta kicks off on August 28th, system requirements announced

With Destiny 2's console beta now over, we can turn our attention to the more exciting PC beta. Many PC gamers were left disappointed following the first game but that will be rectified this year with the sequel. Those looking to test the game out will get the chance starting on the 28th of August, just under two months before the game's PC launch date. Destiny 2's PC system requirements have also been released.

The Destiny 2 PC beta will start on the 28th of August for those who pre-ordered, meanwhile the open beta starts on the 29th. The beta will go on for two more days after that, ending on the 31st of August. It will contain all the same content that the console beta had, meaning no open-world stuff but access to the first mission a strike and PvP.

Those of you looking to play Destiny 2 on PC will want to check out the system requirements. Here is the minimum spec:

  • CPU: Intel Core i3-3250/ AMD FX-4350.
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 2GB/AMD Radeon HD7850 2GB.
  • RAM: 6GB.

And here is the recommended spec:

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-2400/AMD Ryzen R5 1600X.
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970/AMD Radeon R9 390.
  • RAM: 8GB.

If you are in the process of building a brand new rig with the hardware available on the market today, then Bungie has also listed put together a list of recommended parts for those upgrading. Bungie's recommended CPU/GPU combo for new builders seeking 1080p/60fps is the Intel Core i5-7400 and a GTX 1060 6GB. The minimum a new system builder could get away with is an Intel Pentium G4560 paired with a GTX 1050.

At Bungie's event earlier in the year, the game was shown running at 4K/60fps on a system featuring an Intel Core i7-7700K and a GTX 1080Ti.

KitGuru Says: Destiny 2's system requirements seem sensible enough, hopefully this is a good indication of how well optimised the final game will be. Are any of you planning on trying out Destiny 2 next month?
