Steam library overhaul is coming this month

We’ve known for a while now that Valve has been working on a UI overhaul for Steam. We saw the first part of this in last year’s Steam Chat update and next, the Steam library will be getting an overhaul. We had a preview of these changes earlier this year and now, the update is finally coming to the Steam public beta branch.

If you opt into the Steam Client beta, then on the 17th of September, you will be greeted with the all-new Steam library. Not only will this include better tools to keep your library organised, but it will be easier to see updates and news from the games you play the most.

You can see some screenshots of the new library in the gallery above. As part of the update, you will be able to create game ‘collections' instead of standard categories, you can also pin these to your library home screen for easy access.

After playing a game, you will also see a post-game summary section on your home screen, which will show achievements, playtime etc. We don't know when this update will leave beta, but we'll likely see a full switch over before the end of the year.
