It has been a good while since Metro Exodus came out, capping off the story of Artyom and taking fans through some of the events of the final book. Now, 4A Games is preparing for its next major game, Metro 2039, and it will be announced later this week.
Following a leak earlier this week, 4A Games has officially confirmed that it will be announcing Metro 2039 later this week. The global reveal for the game will be taking place on April 16th at 5PM UK time.
Metro 2039 will have been in development for several years already and may have been slowed down a bit by the war in Ukraine, which also disrupted other major games like Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl. While the game is being announced this year, it isn't necessarily expected to release until 2027.
As Metro Exodus offered an end to Artyom's arc, it is unclear if the new game will carry on with Artyom as the main character, or if 4A Games will shift their focus to a new character.
KitGuru Says: The Metro games have been a favourite of mine sever since Last Light came out. I'm hoping Metro 2039 can impress with its reveal just as Metro Exodus did back in 2018.
