Following in the footsteps of other console game developers, Remedy Entertainment announced late last year that they would be porting the excellent Control over to mobile platforms – specifically iOS devices. While no exact release date was offered at the time, Remedy have now surprise-dropped Control Ultimate Edition onto the iOS App Store; officially available to purchase now for just $4.99.
Available now as a premium product commanding an upfront price of $4.99, Control Ultimate Edition brings the full console experience over to mobile, including support for ray-tracing on compatible hardware.
Additionally, Control’s…controls have been adjusted to suit mobile and touch-screen devices, with Remedy noting that “we have implemented touch controls and made changes to the in-game UI and game mechanics, like aiming and puzzles to provide a great experience for supported touch devices.”
Of course, the game also supports Bluetooth controllers for those who want a more console-like experience.
Regardless, it is interesting and encouraging to see an increasing number of major AAA titles being ported over to mobile platforms. Whether Control’s upfront cost will wind up helping or hurting the title, we will have to wait and see, but early reviews for the title appear to be positive.
