Take-Two CEO comments on Grand Theft Auto VI launch price

Ever since Nintendo began to charge $80 for some of its Switch 2 games, there has been a growing discussion surrounding game prices and more specifically how much Rockstar Games’ highly-anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI will cost at launch. While we have yet to get an official figure, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive has now commented on the matter.

Speaking during a recent appearance at the ‘iicon’ video game conference, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick officially commented on the potential price for Grand Theft Auto VI, stating (as transcribed by IGN):

“Consumers pay for the value that you bring to them, and our job is to charge way way way less of the value delivery. How you feel about something you buy is the intersection of the thing itself and what you pay for. Consumers need to feel like the thing itself is amazing and the price they were charged was fair for what they got.”

Zelnick continued, “We look at… how do we deliver something amazing, and how do we make sure that what people pay for it feels very reasonable.”

While pretty much no-one expected Zelnick to announce the official price for GTA VI during the conference, his comments do suggest that hopefully the popular memes claiming that Grand Theft Auto VI will cost $100+ remain just that: jokes and memes. With GTA VI scheduled to release this November however, we will have to find out sooner or later.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Zelnick’s comments? What price do you believe GTA VI will cost at launch? How much would you be willing to pay? Let us know down below.
