Saw Genesis delayed to 2027

While Hellraiser: Revival is heading towards its planned release date, another major film-tied horror game has been delayed. Saw Genesis will no longer be releasing into Early Access this year. 

SAW is one of the biggest horror film franchises, and while Jigsaw is available as a character in Dead by Daylight, one studio wanted to take a crack at making their own co-op horror game. In Saw Genesis, there is one player acting as Jigsaw (The Judge) while there are three survivor characters (The Accused) looking to escape.

While it is similar to the Dead by Daylight formula on paper, SAW: Genesis looks to differentiate itself in a number of ways. For starters, players can be trapped by Jigsaw and may need to sacrifice a limb if their teammates don't break them out in time.

In this game, the killer will also typically be above the map, looking down on the survivors as they manoeuvre around the map, giving them opportunities to surprise the survivors and force them into tricky situations.

While SAW: Genesis was originally planned to launch into Steam Early Access this year after a string of tests this summer, the game has now been delayed. The game is now targeting a Q1 2027 release window.

KitGuru Says: SAW: Genesis does look like an interesting take on this genre style, but it will be a while longer now before we can play it for ourselves.
