Forza Horizon 6 for PS5 has been officially delayed to January 2027

Following weeks of uncertainty as to whether Forza Horizon 6 on PS5 would make its previously-announced 2026 release window, insiders claimed that the game had indeed been delayed – with the open-world racer supposedly now targeting a January 2027 release. Sure enough, said delay has now been made official, with Playground Games confirming that Horizon 6 will arrive on the 26th of January 2027 alongside its upcoming expansion.

Making the official announcement via a pre-order trailer, the team at Playground Games confirmed that Forza Horizon 6 will finally arrive for PS5 on the 26th of January 2027. As with pretty much all first-party Xbox releases, those who pre-order the game’s Premium Edition will gain 5 days of Advanced Access (meaning you’ll be able to hop into the driving seat from the 21st).

Alongside its PS5 release, Playground Games also offered a brief teaser for Horizon 6’s first expansion. While details on the DLC remain light, the team confirmed that it will officially launch on the 21st of January across all platforms simultaneously (though standard edition users on PS5 will of course have to wait the extra 5 days).

In terms of technical details, all that has been confirmed so far is the fact that the PS5 version will come with two visual modes: a 4K 30FPS Quality mode and a 60FPS Performance mode. That said, it’s safe to assume that Forza Horizon 6 on PS5 will match its Xbox Series X counterpart – meaning a locked 4K with RT self-reflections on cars in its Quality mode and a dynamic 4K sans ray-tracing in performance mode.

Last but not least, Playground Games also revealed that Forza Horizon 6 will be receiving a free update across all platforms on the 21st of January, although they plan to “share more details about this closer to release.”

Though it may be coming to PS5 a little later than initially expected, Forza Horizon 6 is likely to be massive on PS5. After all, FH5 managed to sell over 5 million copies on Sony’s console despite arriving half a decade after its Xbox counterpart.
