Skype is back up and running after yesterday’s widespread outage

Skype has had its service restored back to normal, following yesterday's widespread outage that affected users across the world. Skype initially went down early yesterday morning, though the team behind the communication app were quick to work on it, though it took most of the day.

Skype announced that its service was back up and running just before midnight last night, saying: “We have identified the network issue which prevented users from logging in and using Skype today. We're in the process of reconnecting our users, and focused on restoring full service. The issue did not affect Skype for Business users.”

Microsoft failed to mention exactly why Skype went down for the entire day, so we aren't entirely sure if it was a security issue or just a general fault. Skype for Business users were apparently not affected by yesterday's problems and Skype for Web remained in working order for most of the day.
