Intel Arc announced, first high-performance graphics card coming Q1 2022

We've been waiting a long time for Intel to unveil its plans for high-performance discrete graphics cards. Now, the puzzle is finally starting to come together with the announcing of Intel Arc – which will be the brand for Intel's flagship graphics cards and associated software/services.

Intel Arc graphics cards will utilise the Xe-HPG architecture and there are already several generations planned, starting off with codenamed ‘Alchemist' graphics cards and followed by Battlemage, Celestial and Druid in future generations of Arc graphics cards.

Speaking on the announcement, Intel's VP and GM of Client Graphics Products, Roger Chandler, said: “Today marks a key moment in the graphics journey we started just a few years ago. The launch of the Intel Arc brand and the reveal of future hardware generations signifies Intel’s deep and continued commitment to gamers and creators everywhere. We have teams doing incredible work to ensure we deliver first-class and frictionless experiences when these products are available early next year.”

The first generation of Intel Arc GPUs, codenamed ‘Alchemist', will feature hardware-based ray tracing, AI-driven super-sampling and full support for DX12 Ultimate features. The first Intel Arc graphics cards will arrive in Q1 2022, with more specific details on specifications and features set to come before the end of 2021.
