The next World of Warcraft expansion has been announced

At BlizzCon 2019, Blizzard announced sequels to some of its popular games such as Overwatch and the Diablo franchise, which will be coming soon. In addition, the developer announced the next expansion for World of Warcraft.

As recently rumoured, the new World of Warcraft update will take players into the realm of death in the upcoming Shadowlands expansion. Shadowlands will wrap up the battle of Azeroth as both factions will unite in an attempt to defeat the greater evil threat of The Old Gods and The Void Lords.

The Shadowlands expansion for World of Warcraft was revealed during the opening ceremony at BlizzCon 2019 with a cinematic trailer beginning with Sylvanas returning to the Icecrown Citadel. Sylvanas and the Lich King Bolvar embroil in battle before Sylvanas claims the Linch King's crown for herself.

As noticed by PC Gamer, A key feature of Shadowlands will be choosing a covenant and aligning with one of the several factions to make a home. Shadowlands will also feature a number of new zones, with more detail of these new zones due to be announced shortly “Shadowlands is an expansion built around choice,” Hazzikostas said.

In Shadowlands, players will go to the afterlife in the Warcraft universe and encounter characters from the series past. Much of Shadowlands will be dark and eerie, however, some of its areas have a rather pleasant look to them. New dungeons and raids are set to be added in the Shadowlands expansion which include the Tower of the damned.

Shadowlands is set to be the eighth expansion to World of Warcraft, with the game now existing in two states since Blizzard released World of Warcraft Classic, which recreates the game as it was prior to any expansions being released.
