Call of Duty: WWII is off to a good start, beats Infinite Warfare launch sales by 57 percent

While last year's entry in to the Call of Duty franchise failed to generate enough interest, it looks like Sledgehammer's switch back to ‘boots on ground' gameplay is already paying off. Call of Duty: WWII launched on Friday and already, it has become the series' best launch in the last three years.

Call of Duty: WWII launch sales were up by 57 percent compared to Infinite Warfare, according to UK sales tracker, Chart-Track. Call of Duty: WWII also managed to surpass launch numbers for Black Ops III, so clearly, this is the direction fans have wanted the series to go for quite some time.

Chart-Track unfortunately only counts physical sales. However, digital downloads in this case would likely provide another boost to the already impressive sales numbers.

Aside from Call of Duty: WWII, there are plenty of other major games taking up space in the top ten sellers list. Assassin's Creed Origins has managed to hold on to the number two spot for its second week on sale, while FIFA 18 is number three. Super Mario Odyssey is holding up well at number four. Here is the full top ten:

  1. Call of Duty: WWII
  2. Assassin's Creed Origins
  3. FIFA 18
  4. Super Mario Odyssey
  5. Gran Turismo Spot
  6. Wolfenstein 2
  7. Forza Motorsport 7
  8. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  9. Forza Horizon 3
  10. Middle-earth: Shadow of War
