Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 remakes coming this year

The Tony Hawk Pro Skater series may have fallen flat with its most recent entry, but there is still plenty of love for the older games. Vicarious Visions, the studio behind the excellent Crash Bandicoot remakes, are working on bringing Pro Skater 1 and 2 back for the modern era.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 were already re-released once for last-gen consoles and PC. However, Vicarious Visions will be putting a lot more effort in for this release. Aside from completely remade graphics and assets, modern effects like HDR lighting will also be added in.

As Polygon reports, there are former Neversoft employees working at Vicarious Visions at the moment, which may well be where this whole project started. A lot of work has gone into ensuring the game feels right to long-time fans, while also adding in some new tricks so players can discover and chain together new moves.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 are priced at $39.99, so not a full price release. However, there is a more expensive deluxe and collector’s edition. The remake will release in September.

KitGuru Says: Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 missed the mark but Activision will likely deliver with this release. After all, the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater is a big piece of gaming history. Will any of you be playing this later in the year?
